Rafael develops methods to understand how proteins work and how to inhibit them effectively. In Medicinal Chemistry, he combines biophysical data with structural bioinformatics, cheminformatics, and machine learning to speed up drug discovery. He earned a joint PhD in Genetics (UNESP, Brazil) and Biotechnology (University of Barcelona, Spain).
